Increasing Social Unrest

Acute challenges to democracy include a deterioration in the integrity of constitutional democracy, manipulation of state election laws to limit or overturn the will of voters, and a global trend toward autocracy in places where democratic institutions once seemed solid. Republicans have become a violent and vocal minority who do not want to willingly relinquish power.  Convention matters and complacency when democratic conventions are flouted is dangerous. Abortion Criminalization

Supreme Court judgments have clearly become increasingly motivated by political biases rather than on purely judicial judgement. A majority of Americans opposed overturning the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade, a right previously judged as guaranteed under the Constitution. It is obvious that women have not yet gained sufficient stature within the justice system to attain empowerment.
